Gábor Hollerung (1954), Meritorious Artist of Hungary, executive music director of Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, senior conductor of the Budapest Academic Choral Society, artistic director of Zemplén Festival, founder and artistic director of the Budapest International Choral Competition.
His professors were Zoltán Vásárhelyi, István Párkai and András Kórodi.

Between 2001-2008, he was music director, and then artistic director of Honvéd Ensemble. Between 1989-2000, he was senior conductor of Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, and then from 2001 executive music director of Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra. He has conducted numerous orchestras in Hungary as guest conductor.
Between 2002-2005 he was first guest conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and between 2002-2007 music advisor to Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv. He has worked together with numerous European ensembles and appeared as guest conductor with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Brazil Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan.
The Budapest Academic Choral Society that he founded is one of the most successful Hungarian choirs and winner of many international competitions.
Among other accolades, it holds the grand prize choir title of the International Choral Competition in Debrecen, and it won the title Choir of the World at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. As an independent society, the choir is at present the largest amateur choir in the country.
The series ‘The country sings’ launched in 1986 is the most significant event in Hungary for amateur singers and one of the most popular formats for the promotion of music.
Gábor Hollerung regularly holds courses for young choral directors and conductors in Hungary and abroad (in virtually all European countries) as well as the USA. Every summer for the past near two decades he has held a masterclass in Taiwan. Here in Hungary, he has a conducting masterclass within the framework of the Dohnányi Academy that attracts participants from all over the world.
